Helicopter Tour over Manhattan, New York City – Courtesy of Viator

For an exhilarating introduction to New York City, start with a helicopter tour. There’s nothing quite like seeing the iconic skyline of New York from above, where Manhattan’s towering skyscrapers, sprawling parks, and intricate bridges form a breathtaking mosaic. Liberty Helicopters and FlyNYON are among the premier providers of these aerial tours, offering flights that glide over landmarks like the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Statue of Liberty.

The views are unparalleled, especially at sunrise or sunset when the city is bathed in golden light. As you soar across Central Park and the Hudson River, you’ll gain a new appreciation for the sheer scale of the city and the intricacy of its design. Don’t forget your camera—this is one view of NYC that you’ll want to capture and remember forever.

Diverse Boroughs by Car: The Bronx, Harlem, and Queens

To get a true feel for New York’s diversity, a car tour of The Bronx, Harlem, and Queens is essential. While Manhattan tends to get the most attention, these boroughs hold the keys to understanding the city’s cultural and historical depth.

The Bronx is famous for its rich history as the birthplace of hip-hop, its vibrant street art scene, and iconic spots like Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo. Take a leisurely drive down Arthur Avenue, the “real Little Italy,” and sample authentic Italian pastries and cuisine.

Harlem is the epicenter of African American culture in NYC. The Apollo Theater, where legends like Ella Fitzgerald and James Brown performed, is a must-visit. For a taste of soul food, stop at Sylvia’s or Red Rooster, and if you’re lucky, you might catch a live jazz performance at one of Harlem’s intimate clubs.

Queens offers a global experience within one borough. From Astoria’s Greek restaurants to Jackson Heights’ rich blend of South Asian, Latin American, and Eastern European cultures, the diversity is dazzling. Don’t miss Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, home to the Unisphere and the site of two World’s Fairs.

Driving through these boroughs not only gives you a taste of New York’s different neighborhoods but also reveals a side of the city often missed by tourists focused solely on Manhattan.

Seeing New York City from the water is another memorable experience. A boat tour along the Hudson River provides a unique vantage point, allowing you to witness the city’s iconic landmarks from a serene and refreshing perspective.

For a more exclusive experience, consider a private yacht charter. These tours offer a luxurious way to explore the city’s waterfront, with dinner, drinks, and personalized service as you glide past the city’s most famous sights.

The Statue of Liberty, standing tall in the harbor, is even more impressive from the water. Ferries also run directly to Liberty Island and Ellis Island, where you can walk in the footsteps of millions of immigrants who first arrived in the U.S. here.

While car and boat tours give you a broad view of the city, there’s no substitute for exploring Manhattan on foot. Walking tours allow you to fully immerse yourself in the neighborhoods, feel the energy of the streets, and discover hidden gems.

Lower Manhattan is where New York’s history as a financial powerhouse began. Walking tours in this area often include the 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street’s iconic Charging Bull, and historic landmarks like Trinity Church and the New York Stock Exchange.

Greenwich Village and SoHo are perfect for art lovers and shoppers alike. Stroll through these areas to discover charming boutiques, legendary cafes, and the cultural history of NYC’s bohemian past. The streets of SoHo, lined with cast-iron buildings, are particularly stunning.

Central Park is a must for any traveler. Spanning over 800 acres, the park offers a green oasis in the heart of the city. Visitors can explore the Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, and The Mall, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk along its shaded paths.

Each of these neighborhoods tells a different story about New York, from its early colonial history to its role as a modern cultural hub.

In Harlem, a guided tour can take you through the neighborhood’s role in the Civil Rights Movement and the Harlem Renaissance, while a ghost tour of Greenwich Village provides a spooky take on the city’s past, with tales of haunted buildings and mysterious disappearances.

Alaska’s landscapes are nothing short of breathtaking. The state is home to Denali, North America’s tallest peak, standing at 20,310 feet. Whether you’re hiking the trails at Denali National Park or taking in the views from a scenic flight, the sheer scale of the mountains is humbling.

Glaciers, like those in Glacier Bay National Park and Kenai Fjords, cascade into icy waters, offering surreal view. Cruise ships often glide through these areas, giving visitors close-up views of calving icebergs—a sight that feels both powerful and poignant.

Wildlife Encounters of Alaska

Alaska’s wildlife is as iconic as its scenery. Keep your binoculars ready for sightings of grizzly bears fishing for salmon in Brooks Falls or bald eagles soaring over pristine forests.

Moose, caribou, and wolves roam freely in many of the national parks, while marine life such as orcas, humpback whales, and seals make the waters teem with life. Wildlife tours, whether on land or by boat, provide rare opportunities to connect with these incredible creatures in their natural habitat.

The Aurora Borealis

Few experiences compare to witnessing the Northern Lights dancing across the Alaskan night sky. From late September to early April, the Aurora Borealis paints the heavens with waves of green, purple, and pink.

Fairbanks is one of the best spots for viewing this celestial phenomenon, offering guided tours and cozy lodges that maximize your chances of a sighting.

Outdoor Adventures in Alaska

Alaska is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. During the summer, endless daylight gives ample time for activities like hiking, kayaking, and fishing. Try glacier trekking on Mendenhall Glacier or paddle among icebergs in Prince William Sound.

In winter, the state transforms into a snowy wonderland, perfect for dog sledding, snowshoeing, and even ice climbing. Adventurers looking for a true challenge can join expeditions to remote Arctic areas or test their endurance with backcountry camping.

Rich Cultural Heritage of Alaska

Alaska’s indigenous cultures are deeply rooted in the land.
A Brief History of Montreal

Montreal’s history begins with its indigenous inhabitants, the St. Lawrence Iroquoians, who established a settlement known as Hochelaga long before European explorers arrived. In 1535, French explorer Jacques Cartier encountered the site, which he described as a fortified village. However, it was Samuel de Champlain who founded the permanent settlement of Ville-Marie in 1642, laying the groundwork for what would become Montreal.

Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, Montreal grew as a vital fur trading hub. By the 19th century, the city had established itself as an economic powerhouse, marked by its industrial expansion and significant immigration influx. The 20th century brought further growth, with Montreal emerging as a cultural and economic center, hosting notable events such as Expo 67 and the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Origins and Design of The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France to the United States, designed by the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue’s creation was a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations, a bond forged during the American Revolution. Gustave Eiffel, renowned for designing the Eiffel Tower, played a role in creating the iron framework inside the statue.

The design of the statue draws inspiration from the Roman goddess Libertas, who represents freedom. The neoclassical Roman-style gown, the torch held high in one hand, and the tablet in the other bearing the date of the American Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776) all convey a powerful message of liberty and enlightenment.

Physical Description

The Statue of Liberty stands approximately 151 feet (46 meters) from the base to the torch. It is primarily constructed from copper sheets, which, over time, have oxidized to create the iconic green patina. Visitors have the opportunity to climb up to the crown for a panoramic view of New York City, while the torch, once functional, has been closed to the public since 1916. The statue stands on a pedestal, which houses the pedestal museum, funded by the American people to support the statue.

Symbolism of The Statue of Liberty

The symbolism of the Statue of Liberty is profound and multifaceted. It serves as a beacon of hope, freedom, and democracy. The seven spikes on the crown represent the seven continents and seven seas, symbolizing universal liberty. In addition, the tablet held by the statue is inscribed with the Roman numerals for 1776 (MDCCLXXVI), signifying the year of American independence.

Moreover, the statue has come to represent the American immigrant experience. It was one of the first sights that greeted millions of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, making it a powerful symbol of the American dream.

Fun Facts about The Statue of Liberty

The original torch was replaced during the statue’s 1986 restoration. The new torch is covered in gold leaf.

A smaller replica of the Statue of Liberty stands in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris.

Inside the statue, there is an iron framework designed by Gustave Eiffel, the same engineer behind the Eiffel Tower.

The statue was designated as a National Monument in 1924 and added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1984.

Riviera Maya Travel Guide.

Known for its picture-perfect underground swimming holes, called Cenotes, Riviera Maya is an authentic Mexican paradise. If you had enough of nature, you could find some luxurious all-inclusive boutiques on the beach. If all you care about is partying, then you’ll find plenty of that in Playa del Carmen.

It is Riviera’s wildest city. Riviera Maya is a tourist corridor that is growing fast. Tourists worldwide visit this fantastic place, but if you have a knack for exploration, you’ll still find tiny fishing towns with unique Mayan-Mexican culture that tourism has forgotten.

With so much to see and explore here, choosing the top three must-visit places is tricky. We suggest you research as much as possible and must visit the following places.

Tulum Ruins

It is one of the most visited archaeological sites in entire Mexico. This is because it was among the last few Mayan settlements still inhabited when the conquistadors arrived in 1518. Then, Tulum was a trade centre and was considered a neutral Mayan city where rival Mayan factions came to trade. Today, its ruins sit on a seaside cliff high above the turquoise water. The structures here are modest compared to other grand Mayan cities, but they are enough to capture your imagination like no other.

Aktun-Chen

Riviera Maya is famous for its Cenotes and the impressive underground caverns. There are many Cenotes in the area that you can visit easily, but Aktun-Chen is the best one to experience. In Mayan, Aktun-Chen means “the cave with Cenotes inside”. It is the largest in the area, and it is estimated to be around 5 million years old. The cave has underground passages with stalactites and stalagmites. YOu can walk through these passages until you reach Cenote with a deep green colour. There are canopy tours available here that you can take and one Cenote where you can even swim.

Reserva de la Biosfera Sian Ka’an

Located in Tulum, this reserve is away from all the regular touristy places. This is a must-visit for nature lovers who want to see some greenery and wild animals. You can also experience a boat ride down the canal that was dug out by Mayans by hand. Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is home to many colourful birds and howler monkeys. It is the largest protected area on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. This place offers some of the Yucatan’s most sublime landscapes and an escape from resorts and glittery nightclubs.
The post Riviera Maya, The Sun-Kissed Caribbean Coastline appeared first on The Voyage Magazine.

Alaska, the largest state in the USA, is a paradisal tourist destination. Wildlife and mesmerizing landscapes, including lakes and mountains, make Alaska one of the most beautiful tourist locations in the world. Most tourist locations nowadays focus on artificial beauty, while Alaska is still full of nature. From kayaking to hiking and skiing, Alaska is full of fun activities for you to try out. In this article, we would cover all of its must-visit locations. So pack up your bags and join us on a breathtaking tour of the wondrous land of Alaska.

Ketchikan

Ketchikan, the first city of Alaska, naturally comes first on our list too. It sits on the southern tip of the Inside Passage and is the first city that passengers onboard cruises set their sights on while heading up north.

In Ketchikan, you can take the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen’s Tour. It was featured in the reality TV show- Deadliest Catch. The short tour would provide you with a first-hand look at the hauling of crabs, salmon, and other sea creatures.

If you don’t prefer the sea, take a hike up Mt. Deer, whizz between salon streams and woodland, or even schedule a floatplane ride. A wide range of stores, restaurants, and theatres are also available for your indulgence. Award-winning art events also take place throughout the city regularly for you to attend and enjoy.

Kenai Fjords National Park

You can visit Kenai Fjords National Park once you’ve explored urban Alaska. Black bears, coyotes, harbour seals, moose, mountain goats, sea otters, Steller sea lions, and wolverines are among the park’s most amazing animal species. You can go beachcombing, biking, boat tours, camping, cross-country skiing, dog sledging, fishing, flightseeing, hiking, kayaking, mountaineering, snowmobiling, and more.

Sitka

Sitka is located on Baranof Island, off the coast of Alaska’s southern tip. You can only get here by boat or air, and the voyage would be an experience in and of itself. It is the only village on the Inside Passage with a view of the Pacific Ocean.

Mount Edgecumbe, a dormant volcano in this lovely area, features a cone comparable to Mount Fuji in Japan. All fascinated tourists can enjoy activities like fishing, kayaking, whale watching, and trekking on the thick forests on the sides of the mountains around Sitka.

Fairbanks

Last but not least, on our list is Fairbanks. This tourist destination is renowned as one of the best locations to watch the Northern Lights in the US. For an affluent traveller like you, there are plenty of luxe hotels in this locale from where you can marvel at the display of the Northern Lights, which arises automatically from hot springs. If you are worried that you may miss the aurora show during your sleep, you can rest easy as usually the resorts here alarm guests immediately upon the appearance of these magical lights.
